Excursion around the historical and geographical center of Riga, Old Riga

The so-called Old Town of Riga is (naturally) the city's historic and geographic centre, located on the right bank of the Daugava River. Only remnants of the fortification wall remain that enclosed the city from the 13th to 18th century. But the narrow streets of cobblestone, and a multitude of Medieval architectural wonders are still standing, first and foremost being the churches and their steeples – making for a solely unique skyline. Contemporary jewelry exhibition “Ziemas elpa” (Winter Breath)

The contemporary jewelry exhibition Winter Breath will feature a number of Latvian and foreign jewelers. Everyone feels the breath of winter, as it freezes and covers everything it touches with a silvery overlay. Exhibition “Akvarelis Latvijā (19.–21.gs.)” (Watercolor in Latvia (19th – 21st centuries))

An exhibition dedicated to a large-scale, themed, and stylistically-multishaped water-coloring technique, incorporating three centuries. It marks the varied usage of Latvian watercolor techniques in historical, mythological, and genre paintings, portraits, acts, landscapes, and still life compositions, as well as in book illustrations and theater costume drawings. Watercolor painting was a popular technique in the second half of the 20th century. At the beginning of the 21st century, watercolor has returned to contemporary art in the form of large-scale paintings, and with their lightness, transparency, and color brightness, they are an emotional experience. Amber through the times, exhibition

The exhibition, which is also a permanent display at the Natural History Museum of Latvia, tells a story about the most unique natural resource found in Latvia — amber. It covers such topics as formation of amber, its characteristic forms and wide range of colours, amber inclusions, fossilised tree resins throughout the world and their deposits, as well as threads made of this material. The Dom Museum ― Temple for Science and Art

The major source for the Dom Museum collections was donations ― archaeological artefacts, stamps, coins, medals, paintings, engravings, clocks, furniture, musical instruments, chinaware, silver and pewter objects ― the gold fund of the modern Museum of the History of Riga and Navigation.
